The Scottish Government and the BMA reached agreement on interest free loans late in 2019.
Lothian practices that applied for loans should receive these by the end of March 2020 (assuming they accept the loan agreement). Lothian is continuing to take on leases from practices who lease from a third party.
So far 14 leases have been taken over or are under negotiation. The Lothian Capital Investment Group has asked the GMS Premises Group to look at accelerating this programme. The group will also look at what it means for Lothian to have responsibility for these premises and how they fit into HSCP plans for primary care capacity. In addition the HSCPs have been putting forward their primary care capital plans to NHS Lothian for the coming years.
