Permanent Salaried / Maternity Locum GP
WHITESANDS MEDICAL PRACTICE
Come to sunny Dunbar, a thriving seaside town just 20 minutes from Edinburgh by train, with easy access to beautiful beaches and the Lammermuir Hills.
We are looking for a Salaried GP and a Locum GP to join our friendly team. The posts are available for between 4 and 8 sessions per week from the end of September 2026 for the salaried post and from approximately 21st December for the maternity locum post.
Our focus is on continuity of care, sustainable working and practitioner wellbeing. We offer 15-minute appointments, with usually no more than 25 patient contacts per day, the majority of which are face-to-face consultations. We enjoy high levels of patient satisfaction, receive very few complaints and are committed to creating a supportive and enjoyable working environment.
We meet for fresh coffee (or tea!) every day and prioritise regular protected administration time, including for both these posts, as well as team away days. We are a teaching and training practice and actively support GPs in developing other professional interests. We are keen to evolve the way we work within the modern NHS while protecting the core elements of traditional general practice that continue to make this the best job in the world.
We have a loyal and enthusiastic administrative team and a practice list of approximately 5,000 patients across a broad social demographic. Our clinical team consists of three partners, three salaried GPs, a practice nurse and a healthcare assistant.
Although we serve a diverse rural population across two counties, many house calls can be completed on foot or by bicycle, and a practice electric bicycle is available for use (GPs still need to have a car available for more distant visits).
We work from an attractive, purpose-built medical centre that provides a pleasant working environment and is shared with two other similarly sized practices. All three practices have a full complement of GPs and a shared philosophy of patient-centred care.

- Practice pharmacy team
- District nursing team
- Care home team
- Health visitors
- Midwifery services
- Physiotherapy
- Primary Care Substance Use Nurse
- CTACS
