New Walk-In GP Clinics to Improve Access Across Scotland
The Scottish Government has announced the rollout of a network of walk-in GP clinics aimed at improving access to primary care and easing pressure on existing services. Fifteen pilot clinics will open initially across Scotland, operating seven days a week between 12:00 and 20:00, and staffed by GPs, nurses and support teams. These clinics will offer same-day assessments, diagnostics and treatment, working alongside—rather than replacing—core GP services. Developed collaboratively with NHS Boards and the profession, the initiative is intended to provide additional flexibility for patients while supporting the broader aim of shifting more care into the community.
